They say, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." Well, I'm going to share my Vegas experience with you...But it'll just be between us ; )
I am going to Vegas for a conference for my talk show, www.jessicarector.com. I bring along my mom, because it's her birthday. We ask my older sister to come along, and she finally agrees to it.
On the plane, I'm able to do some work, and then take an hour nap...or sleep for an hour, if you will. I've had 7 hours of sleep in the past three night total, with last night sleeping only 10 minutes. So, I'm exhausted...to say the least. I can't wait to get off the plane, get to the hotel room, and sleep...sleep and some more sleep.
Well, as most of us all know, things don't usually happen the way Jessica wants in her room. We get to the hotel about three hours before we are allowed to check in. So, I go to register for my conference. I get to check in and find out that I'm too early for that too...only by two hours.
Then we decide to go get something to eat. We want to go to one of my favorite restaurants, Chin Chin, which is only in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. We walk to New York New York, and guess what?!! We got there too early for lunch...at 11:30. What restaurant doesn't serve lunch at 11:30? Well, of course the one where we want to go. We go to the slots for a while to gamble to pass the next hour until lunch. My mom plays this large jackpot slot machine...and wins about $25. With that winnings, we go and eat some awesome Chinese food.
After lunch, we are able to check into the hotel, and I walk over to Mandalay Bay to register for the conference...then it was off to bed for me. I had to take a nap...I was exhausted and I didn't want to start my conference off this way.
The first day of my conference was thrilling and exciting...I wanted to talk to everyone and be friendly. I got to the first speech earlier...and if you know me, you know that's unusual...very unusual. I wanted to sit on the front row and absorb all the information that I could. I wanted to get so much more knowledge, so I could make my show better and get it sold.
I was still on the search for my wish man. I was looking everywhere, because if nothing else, we would have stuff in common being at this conference.
I attended two round robins, where there were eight attendees and one expert. I small talked with a few people at the round robins, but I spoke mainly with women.
Then I finally did talk to one single, hot potential man! Here was my chance.
I attend a speech with Donald Trump and Jillian Michaels and Curtis Stone from The Biggest Loser. The moderator asks Curtis if he is single. He replies, "Yes."
The moderator asks, "What do you look for in a woman?"
Curtis says, "Someone who likes to travel." I think, "That's me."
Curtis says, "Hot." That's me...well sometimes anyways.
Curtis says, "Funny." That's me...He says, "Intelligent." That's me.
I now had to find my chance to approach him and find out how to get a hold of him...just to see, "What if..."
So, when the speech is over, I go outside, hoping to see Curtis..and what do you know? I see him..but then he takes off quickly. I go towards the way he is heading....I think, "Maybe he is heading towards the chef kitchen."
I walk to the chef kitchen, and what do you know? He was there...So, I perfectly positioned myself in the chair next to his table, so that when he looked up, he would have to look at me...because his chair was slanted in my direction.
When the chef kitchen was over, I walked up to him...I say, "Hi, Curtis, my name is Jessica. It's nice to meet you."
He says, "Hi."
I say, "I was in the last session, and..."
He says, "Do you mind if we walk while we talk?"
So as we walk, I keep talking, "the moderator asked if you were single. I have someone in mind for you and wonder how I can send you the information."
I look at him, and he seems a little speechless. I say, "Is that a bad question?"
He replies,"No, I"m just trying to think of the best way to answer it."
I say, "You just never know where you're going to meet the person."
He responds, "Right, I completely agree."
He says, "Get that girl's (and he points to a girl walking about 5 feet in front of us) information. Send her the information, and she will forward it to me."
I say, "Thank you," and I immediately walk to the girl and say, "Curtis told me to get your information so you can pass an email to him."
And with that, Curtis will soon be receiving my email...The drawback is he lives in L.A. and I live in DFW. But you never know how or when you're going to meet the person of your dreams.
